RIGEL stands for Research and Innovation for the Logistic Management.
The RIGEL project aims to implement a technological solution to support logistics management through Industrial IoT solutions. The technological solution is a “roll-off container monitoring system”, a system for the stand-alone monitoring and management of demountable equipment that will communicate in machine-to-machine mode with a backend platform to then provide, in frontend, services to users. The goal of the project is to create a complete and qualified system for geolocation, measurement and communication of container fullness and with fire / ignition warning that can be installed on both roll-off containers and compactors.
It is an expert system for Smart Manufacturing & Maintenance, cloud-based, with a network of original Industrial IoT devices. System requirements:
- Identification and geolocation of the container
- Communication of the filling level of the container in order to allow a scheduled intervention for the withdrawal of the container
- Warning in case of ignition / fire of the container’s contents
- Warning in case of compactors’ failure
- Graphic dashboard representation of the general situation in real time
The RIGEL project (www.progettorigel.it) is funded by Italian Ministry of Economic Development, through one of the eight Italian Competence Centre Industry 4.0 MEdITech (https://meditech4.com/). The project is carried out by B.Energy (https://www.benergyspa.it/), a waste management and environmental services’ company, in partnership with Flugantia (https://www.flugantia.it/), a start-up on technology transfer, Netcom (https://www.netcomgroup.eu/it/), a consulting firm that provides advanced and innovative engineering services, and EITD (www.eitd.it), a SME active on Innovation projects.
